May 17th Syttende Mai

Syttende Mai, Norway’s Independence Day. There are endless parades, countless bunads, and people everywhere.  Everyone went out to watch the parades, but after about three hours it started raining, but by then we had taken plenty of pictures.  Karla & I decided to go back to Peppe’s Pizza one last time for supper and ran into all our students there.

Lots of self explanatory pictures, some with captions anyway.

The red overalls are worn by graduating seniors.  They wear them for the entire month of may without washing them.  It is call russ.
